Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 3 cups (360g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 3/4 cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
  • 1 tsp (5ml) pure vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp (45ml) whole milk
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) fine sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Beat the softened butter on medium-high speed for 3-5 minutes until the butter transforms from yellow to a pale, almost white cream.
  2. Turn the mixer to low and gradually add the sifted powdered sugar and cocoa powder. Once combined and no longer puffing, increase speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the vanilla extract, salt, and 2 tablespoons of milk. Whip on high speed for 60 seconds.
  4. If the frosting is too stiff to spread, add the remaining tablespoon of milk one teaspoon at a time until the texture is velvety and glossy.
