Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, salt, and whole milk. Whisk vigorously until the sugar is completely dissolved and no longer feels gritty at the bottom of the bowl.
  2. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract until the mixture is a uniform, pale cream color.
  3. Pour the liquid base into your pre-frozen ice cream maker canister. Turn the machine on and let it churn according to the manufacturer's directions until it reaches a thick soft-serve consistency.
  4. During the final 2 minutes of churning, pour in optional mix-ins such as chocolate chips, crushed cookies, or fudge ripple.
  5. Transfer the churned ice cream into a freezer-safe container. Press a piece of parchment paper or plastic wrap directly onto the surface to prevent ice crystals from forming. Freeze for at least 4 hours.
